The Guatemala Mission Team of St. Mark Catholic Church supports the work of the Prophet Elias Convent in Patzun, Guatemala as well as Nuestra Senora del Carmen (Our Lady of Carmen) School in the nearby town of El Sitio. The convent and school are located in the Chimaltenango region of the Guatemala highlands.
St. Mark serves the southern half of Denton and nearby communities in the Diocese of Fort Worth.
Bishop Joseph P. Delaney celebrated the dedication Mass for St. Mark on December 31, 1990, and on July 1, 1995, St. Mark was designated as an official parish. St. Mark now serves more than 1,000 parish families.
Chad Riley, principal of Holy Rosary Catholic School and a member of the mission team, put together a short video about the June 2010 Patzun mission trip. Click here to see it.
I love the video; it brings a warm feeling -- especially when seeing the children at their schools/churches and the cooks in the convent kitchen. Thanks, Jaye
